3 rooms on single or twin sharing basis One Common Studio space of 1200 sq ft and 2 small studios of 250 sq ft each. A large area of open space ( rolling meadows and tree covered areas.) Service of care taker / cook and helper available . In- house kitchen facility . Fees: Rs.1250 ( USD.25 ) per day( this includes: Food and accommodation, studio space & service of the caretaker/helper)
Accommodation : On twin sharing basis. (Single occupancy on request @ USD 35 per day) .
Palette People International Art Foundation is a registered charitable trust having its HQ in the state of Kerala in India.
The birth of Palette People in 1991, was occasioned by the sincere urge to spot young and emerging talented artists and project them on the national and international scene, besides energizing the mindset of the public towards an active appreciation of visual art .A new generation of very talented and dedicated artists have come up with the active support of Palette People. We have been conducting regular exhibitions, camps, seminars and talks for the artists and supporting them in all aspects since 1991.
Palette People now run two art galleries, one in Hotel Le Meridien ,Kochi and the second one in Mattancherry, the heritage zone of Kochi city. About the location. Vagamon,a virgin hill scape in Idukki Dist in Kerala ,1100 mts above sea level, is one of the most scenic Greenfield hill stations in India with moderate winter, monsoon and salubrious climate round the year.This is located in the Western Ghats along the west coast of India which has been included on the coveted list of the World Heritage Sites, at a meeting of the World Heritage Committee (UNESCO).
It is recognised as one of the world\’s eight “hottest hotspots” of biological diversity. The vast spread of rolling meadows, tranquil lakes,huge peaks, green forests, rivers and waterfalls and the tea gardens make vagamon a trekkers paradise.
The room temperature does not usually rise above 24 degree C even during the hottest season. Other activities ( Paid). Trekking through forests , boating in Idukki dam ( chances of sighting wild animals including wild elephants), bird watching, fishing, cycling, taking part in organic farming, butterfly watching, star watching during nights,participating in cooking sessions etc ( all on request).
Expenses paid by artist: Travel, Housing , Supplies, Food, Other facilities. Artists can exhibit their works ( if they want) free of charge at the Palette People Art Gallery in Hotel Le Meridien, Kochi. ( Kochi is 90 kms away from the residency and is the nearest city)
