Bergen Assembly 2016 Open Call: Tarek Atoui’s WITHIN

Do you want to take part in a unique sound art project within the framework of Bergen Assembly 2016?

Throughout September 2016, sound artist and artistic director Tarek Atoui will convene WITHIN – a collaborative project where musicians and non-musicians, hearing and Deaf people, composers and improvisers, international and locally based artists, come together to explore new ways of experiencing, communicating and performing sound and music.

The project will take place in the abandoned swimming pool Sentralbadet during the five weeks from August 29 to October 1, using newly developed electro-acoustical instruments designed by Tarek Atoui and a number of collaborators. The instruments are designed to be used and experienced by hearing and Deaf people alike.

We seek musicians of any genre who would like to take part in this project, working in an explorative and improvisational way. You would need to be able to take part in two or three rehearsals and one public performance during one of the five weeks. The public performances are mostly scheduled on Friday nights.

You will be a paid a fee for your participation.
