Biennale Internationale de Casablanca

The Biennale Internationale de Casablanca is pleased to announce the beginning of its 2019/2020 incubation phase developed by Artistic Director Christine Eyene, in preparation for its 5th edition that will take place from 24 September to 1st November 2020.

The programme will be hosted at the biennial’s new Project Space conceived as an experimental venue with a capacity to host exhibitions, screenings, workshops and meetings.

This incubation phase launches with a collaboration between the biennale and Yaounde Photo Network (YPN), an independent Cameroonian photography platform, with the exhibition Regards: Photographie Camerounaise featuring works by Romuald Dikoumé, Blaise Djilo, Max Mbakop, Yvon Ngassam, Antoine Ngolkedo’o and Charlotte Yonga.

In addition to the exhibition, after Yaounde, London and Tokyo, YPN is organising for the first time in Morocco, Digital Africa, a screening of video art from Africa and the Diaspora. Bringing together established and emerging video artists selected from an open call sent out between December 2018 to February 2019, Digital Africa – Casablanca will present works by: Hakeem Adam (Ghana), Driss Aroussi (Morocco / France), Wendimagegn Belete (Ethiopia / Norway), Paul Emmanuel (South Africa), Badr El Hammami (Morocco / France), Khireddine Khaldoun (Algeria), Mohammed Amine Al Makouti (Morocco), MahlÕt Sansosa (Brazil / Tanzania), Yvon Ngassam (Cameroon), Marton Robinson (Costa Rica / USA), Leandré le Roux (South Africa) and Carly Whitaker (South Africa).
