The TRIO Biennial is an international exhibition of contemporary art around the three-dimensional - sculpture, installations, objects - just as, in all its expanded fields - painting, photography, performance, video and other media as three-dimensional research.

By its sculptural tradition, from the Neoconcretism till Kinetic Art, Rio de Janeiro has always been the central point of the brazilian three-dimensional research on names like Sergio Camargo, Franz Weissmann, Amilcar de Castro, Palatnik, Hélio Oiticica, Lygia Clark and Lygia Pape, Bispo do Rosário, Cildo Meirelles, Tunga, Antonio Dias, Waltércio Caldas, Nelson Leimer, Iole de Freitas, Ascanio MMM, Ernesto Neto, Jose Damasceno, Angelo Venosa, Jose Resende, Jose Bechara, Nelson Felix, Suzana Queiroga, Pedro Paulo Domingues, Felipe Barbosa, and many others who were born or built their careers in Rio.
